About Las Vegas, United States

Las Vegas is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the US. With its over-the-top casinos, wild nightlife, world-class cuisine, and larger-than-life stage shows, the city has been luring honeymooners and high-rollers for decades. In recent years, the city has also cultivated its image as a family friendly destination. For every adults-only revue, there's an attraction perfect for kids. And for every luxury hotel or fine dining experience there's a budget buffet or a cheap Las Vegas hostel providing an alternative.

The Las Vegas Strip is where all the action is concentrated, but even so, the area worth seeing is sprawling. Skip the rental car; it's more trouble than it's worth to hassle with driving from place to place and there are several other options for getting around, including cab, monorail, and the Deuce bus, which runs up and down the Strip all the way to Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas.

When you're done clubbing, gambling, dining, drinking, and enjoying spa treatments, pool parties, and celebrity shows on the Strip, you can easily get away from the crowds. While the lights of Vegas glow for miles around, a half day's drive (or less) will take you to several National Parks, great hiking areas, the massive Hoover Dam, and even the Grand Canyon.

Summers in Las Vegas are hot, with an average high of 40°C in July. Winters can be surprisingly cool, with an average high of only 13 °C and some snowfall possible in the nearby mountains. Spring and fall, particularly October and November, are considered by many to be the best times to visit, with warm days and cool nights.
